Makeup Travel Essentials Spring Edition

Packing for a trip is always tricky, especially when travelling only with carry-on luggage. Even when space and amount of liquid products are limited, we all want to look our best during our travel, be it for business or leisure.

Here is a list of products I most frequently reach for when packing during the spring months, as they are all long-lasting, easy to carry around and allow me to achieve numerous different looks. Whether it is a meeting, day-time stroll around town or a night out clubbing, here is everything you’ll need:

Travel size NIVEA MEN AFTER SHAVE BALM for sensitive skin. This has been all over the beauty world recently, it might sound strange, but the ingredients in this work perfectly for priming you face, hydrating the skin and keeping your makeup in place all day. A very affordable price is an added bonus. If travelling with a male companion just steal his 🙂

BOURJOIS HEALTHY MIX SERUM FOUNDATION is my go-to foundation when travelling as it gives the skin great hydration and contains fruit vitamins that keep it fresh and glowy. It comes in a variety of shades, bear in mind it doesn’t contain SPF so it is great if taking photos (no annoying flash-back) but you will have to wear an SPF underneath.

CLINIQUE LINE SMOOTHING CONCEALER is great for those who want to brighten their under-eye area without having to worry about the concealer creasing or sliding off during the day. This product is super long lasting and never creases. If your skin is on the drier side you don’t even have to set it with powder and it will still not budge.

BOURJOIS SILK EDITION COMPACT POWDER. This is a must-have and definitely one of the best powders at the drugstore. Smooth as silk and virtually invisible on the skin, it sets the makeup beautifully and doesn’t look heavy or cakey even on dry skin.

HC COSMETICS INSTANT LASH VOLUME is a 2 in 1 product as it is a super black mascara which contains lash nourishing properties, promising to increase lash volume over time. After a few weeks of use lashes do appear stronger, but it is also a great mascara to wear throughout the day as it doesn’t smudge or flake.

Not a must for everyone, but I feel more polished if my brows stay put all day and L’OREAL BROW ARTIST PLUMPER is a fantastic product as it plumps your brows while keeping the hairs in place. Use clear or tinted, depending on your preference.

MAYBELLINE THE NUDES PALETTE has received some mixed reviews when first launching, but for me it is an ok product to use when travelling. The eyeshadow quality and colour selection makes it easy to use and the packaging is compact enough to carry around. Shadows can be obviously used on your eyelids, but some shades can double as highlighters (1st from left top row, 2nd from right bottom row) or brow powders (1st and 2nd from right top row, 2nd from left bottom row). An affordable multitasking product, perfect for space saving.

KIKO INFINITY EYESHADOW shade 226. This is perfect for adding some colour to your lids to warm up the look and the shade works perfectly as a blush as well.

L’OREAL COLOR RICHE LEKHOL eye pencil in 101 midnight black. Long-lasting and very pigmented, let is set for a sharp eyeliner look or smudge it for a smoky line.

  1. LIPS

I love pink and peach colours for spring and this two products can be worn separately or combined to achieve different shades. KIKO VIVID COLOUR LIPSTICK PENCIL in 05 and PUPA HIGH SHINE COLOUR LIP GLOSS in 02.

All of this fits into a carry-on liquid bag (powder products may be carried separately), leaving just enough space for your skincare, perfume and toothpaste.

Let me know what your travel essentials are and have fun travelling this spring!
